Open Position: Product Development Intern

Job Summary: We are looking for an enthusiastic, local college student to assist Terra Dotta in our overall product development efforts. As a successful intern, you will learn to collaborate with full-time engineers and design teams to deliver tangible items that show up in software you and your peers use. The product development internship is a paid part-time position.

Terra Dotta Software is an integrated technology platform that includes capabilities across four aspects of an institution’s business operations:

Study Abroad: Manage and maintain Study Abroad programs, streamline the application process, and offer a seamless experience to your students who wish to broaden their horizons studying abroad.
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS): Monitor and maintain compliance around incoming international student enrollment and retention.
Alert Traveler: Provides real time alerts to students/faculty/staff abroad with country intelligence and emergency communications with command center “check-ins.”
Travel Risk Management: Travel registry, connected to all your campus travelers, ensures you know where your travelers are located anytime and the ability to communicate with them when emergencies occur or when travel is impacted.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

Aid in designing, planning, building and testing new features
Conduct quality assurance tests and assist with product bug fixes
Design wireframes to improve user experience flows
Research, conceive and develop software applications to improve Terra Dotta products
Learn development frameworks and technologies relevant to a specific product (Java, Angular, SQL, NoSQL)
Participate in product teams that support Java object-oriented projects.
Learn and work on either frontend (UI) or backend development assignments, often in paired programming
Apply knowledge gained in computer science courses to real-world problems.
Duties are subject to change as projects develop.

Intern Requirements and Qualifications

College junior or senior or a graduate student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar field
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
College-level experience with coding practices and languages (such as Java, HTML / HTML5, Angular/Springboot or others)
Demonstrates the ability to be creative, resourceful and work effectively with in-office and remote staff.
Technology-first mindset, outstanding analytical skills and drive for innovation
Possess excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills
Highly energetic and creative.
